PART FIVE: CHUCK WAGON RACES AND STAGE SHOW

We caught the bus into Stampede Park at 11.15am Monday July 7th and spent the say at the Park. There was much to see and do throughout the day. In fact we didn’t get to see everything we wanted to. We took lots of photos, some of which you see posted.

The Chuck Wagon races started at 5pm and we had great seats for the show. There were nine races in all with four teams in each race, very exciting and unusual. One of the highlights was seeing the Budweiser Clydesdale Heavy Horse team pulling the wagon, they are truly magnificent animals. You can see a photograph of the team with this posting.

The races were followed by a stage show which was one of the most spectacular and professional shows I have ever seen. It had a Dream Catcher theme as well as being a tribute to Quebec City in honour of its 40 year birthday this year. It had a cast of thousands, full orchestra, professional acts with lots of fireworks and special effects, even the band Kiss put in an appearance. It went for 3 hours and was worth every cent we paid for our tickets. We didn’t arrive home until 1am.
