LAKE LOUISE

Our second day in the Park we drove to Lake Louise via the Bow Valley Parkway.

Walked up Johnston Canyon and then were lucky enough to see a Park Ranger who had just come out of the wilderness and was waiting with his pack and saddle horses, for his partner to pick him up.

This particular guy had been doing the job for 30 years, he spends 9-10 days checking the trails and then has one week off. There are huts throughout and he covers approximately 20km a day.

Lake Louise predictably is spectacular and the Canada you see in tourism brochures. We then visited Moraine Lake before returning to Banff to go up the Sulphur Mountain Gondola which gives you a great view of the city and surrounds ($26).
